APPLICATION FOR ACCREDITATION & SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
An institution seeking DEAC accreditation or reaccreditation must submit an application for accreditation and associated nonrefundable fee. The application requires information intended to establish the applicant’s eligibility (or continued eligibility in the case of institutions applying for reaccreditation) based on the standards of eligibility set forth in Part Two, Section III, Processes and Procedures, DEAC Accreditation Handbook.
SELF EVALUATION REPORT (SER)
The SER Resource Document provides important insights, guidance and suggestions for completing the SER Submission Template.
SELF EVALUATION REPORT (SER) COMPANION TEMPLATES
In addition to completing the SER, institutions must also complete appropriate companion documents – Federal Financial Assistance Programs, if eligible, In-Residence program, if eligible, and Engaging in International Activities, if eligible.
EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS
As a part of the accreditation process, DEAC engages subject matter specialists to conduct comprehensive evaluations of course/program materials ascertaining whether the curricula and materials offered by the distance education institution are complete, accurate, and up to date in relation to stated educational outcomes. Educational Offering Reports are used to identify programs and courses for this review process.
DISCLOSURE FORMS AND CHECKLISTS
Disclosures and transparency serve as the bedrock of trust and accountability. For students, transparent communication about academic policies, fees, and outcomes ensures they can make informed decisions about their education.
Documents below reflect the revised standards to be implemented January 1, 2025.
APPLICATION TO APPEAL
An institution appealing an appealable decision by the Commission must submit the Application for Appeal form together with the applicable appeals fee to the executive director of DEAC within 10 days of the receipt of DEAC’s letter advising the institution of the decision that is being appealed. See Part Two, Section XII, Appealing a Commission’s Adverse Decision, DEAC Accreditation Handbook.
